Another Beautiful Sunset In Sailors Cove.
It sure is a pleasurable thing to be cruising around the waters of Sailors Cove and every once and a while a beautiful moment like this takes place. The beauty of the area is sure evident when a nice sunset shows up behind our own Race Rock lighthouse.
The sailing is pleasurable but this time Fanci and I were enjoying a nice cruise in one of Juli Gothly's pleasure crafts (Elise Speed Eight). It is a pleasure to cruise and is a great build.
If you have any great pictures or moments in the waters of Sailors Cove let us know and lets put them here.

IMPORTANT USS ANNOUNCEMENT
To all friends of Sailors Cove,
All of the owners of the USS are making an announcement that is unprecedented. We have been discussing a project that Jack Linden and Linden Labs has been thinking about for a while now. That being, setting up a joint large area of open water, a virtual Ocean, off of their new Nautilus Sims. They have made the offer to us to move and reconfigure the entire USS to fit into the area around there. We would in essence be connected to Mainland by water but all of the different Estates will retain their independent status. So we get the cake and eat it too:).
The detail is simply that LL will set up a 6x6 grid of water plus a finger of water to the East side of the ocean grid. This body of water will be Governor Linden water and will connect to the mainland. We have all been hashing over different possibilities of how to make this work for our different estates. We will try to get a map out to you so that you can see the configuration since describing it here is very daunting
We have been very vocal on all of our concerns in this endeavor and raised a lot of questions in light of all that has happened recently. All of the owners, met with Jack Linden to discuss this project in voice. In short, that meeting put to rest a lot of fear and concern about it. He is genuinely excited about it and the possibilities it brings to both parties. It also brings to the mix some stability for the USS as well. The land prices for mainland have remained stable through all of this Open Space fiasco. That stability will help Sailors Cove remain independent and get land values back on a positive growth. Plus, the sailing and flying possibilities are endless now. There is also a simple fact that Mainland supports the majority of the users in SL. This means more opportunity for growth of sailing.
Fanci and I have been working hard for Sailors Cove and your investment. We will try to answer all of your questions about all of the things going on. Please us our emails too: patrick.leavitt@gmail.com, and fanci.beebe@gmail.com.
OFFICIAL USS ANNOUCEMENT.
USS Announcement of Great Import
December 19th, 2008
The United Sailing Sims announces a joint community project with Linden Lab to enhance the sailing experience throughout Second Life. Once the move of the 130 plus sim complex takes place to an area east of Nautilus City, the USS will be well positioned to expand their current activities into the 40 plus sims of the about to be formed Blake Sea(named for Sir Peter Blake, the legendary racer and marine environmentalist).
From sailboat racing, to scuba diving, to surfing, to long range cruising, the areas around Nautilus, Blake Sea, and the United Sailing Sims will provide Second Life Residents with unparalleled recreational possibilities. In addition the USS leadership will work with Linden Lab to enhance water based activities across the entire Grid.
Linden Lab states in their formal announcement that “this is the first time that we’ve allowed estates to connect to the Mainland in this way, and it is testimony to both the great community the USS has built up, and our desire to work with resident groups to improve the Mainland experience.”
The actual move will take place in the weeks ahead.
Look for regular updates to the project in the pages of unitedsailingsims.com. The USS press contact is MarkTwain White (marktwainwhite@gmail.com). Mark will hold a town meeting at 9am on Saturday at the USS Headquaters located on the second floor of the Starboards Yacht Club.

Aurora Base featured in Article
The latest addition of TELEPORT magazine (Autumn 2008) has a great article about Grand Manan Island and the Aurora Base. Our own Moonshade Pastorelli did an interview with Fanci and I and really did a nice job on this write up. This issue has some other great articles in it including a bit about Holly Kai and Golf and the SOS protest. Be sure and get your copy at the Kiosks we have around. They are at the Yacht Club, the Real Estate office in Fishers Island, Cutwater Marina, and Aurora Bast. Its very good reading. Besides Fanci and I look in the photo. hehehe

Big Cat Cup and Some photos
What a great time it is watching the Racing in Sailors Cove. Recently, on day 6 of the Big Cat Cup I managed to take a few shots. This one is Skipper cruising North on the return to Zinnemann Island after the Southern most turn on the Z2 coarse.
The Big Cats can move so fast with an experienced skipper at the helm its hard to get into position for a photo when they shoot on by. This one is Skipper and Kei flying by in Cut Water Marina. The current top three racers are all so close together that the the winner is to close to call. Come check it out at Noon on Zinnemann island.
The sailor with the least total points wins the cup at the end of the series. | ||||||||||

New Sims and Theme
NEW THEME AND SEAPLANE BASE
In order to keep up with the growing interest in Seaplanes we have added two more sims to the Estate. Bull Rock and Grand Manan Island. GMI is the beginning of the new North Woods/Newfoundland theme. This new area is still very similar to New England but will be a harsher environment. More rugged on the water line and yet more lush and more trees in the interior. It is also colder so the season changes should hit there first as it works its way down.
Located on GMI is a Seaplane base called Aurora Base. There are docks here that are wider for the planes as well as some cottages for rent. Plus, a hanger and Terminal as the centerpiece of the island. The Terminal will have a viewing / control tower and should have a great view.
In Bull Rock we have added a new feature for those who like live aboards. We have mooring buoys available and several of them are parceled as well.
As we expand the new theme into more residential, we have added that in the this North Woods/Newfoundland theme seaplanes and helicopters will be allowed on residential land. There are some size restraints of the aircraft and of coarse the usual keeping the passages clear for sailing.
Sailors Cove is still a sailing first community and have not changed from our commitment to that. This new theme helps to address the fact that many landowners desire to have a plane left out. The current two themes do not permit that.
Sailors Cove is on the move again and the future looks exciting.

Welcome to the German Sailing Community
Wilkommen!! to the German Ship Rats!
Our dear friend and long time resident Jeremia Spotter has purchased the lovely tropical island of Tiga as a home position for the German SL Sailing community called the Schiffsratten.
The Ships Rats have been involved in sailing in the Sailors Cove/USS Sims and Jeremia tells us that "during the last weeks and month more and more of us found their 'home waters' here on the USS-sims and feel as a part of them. A lot of us have fun to take part on regatta's on plum gut or manning, or sailing the zinnemann ladder."

Theater is Ready for Reopening!
Hello from Sesi Ackland! As Jojamela mentioned in the previous post I have recently taken over the theater at Sailors Cove. I've been involved in Second Life music from every angle as the rl and sl wife of SL musician, Winston Ackland. I am the manager of Winston and Linus Radford in Second Life and have helped organize and plan several large charity events, weekend long music festivals and other events in SL. Stepping up as venue manager was a natural progression and I couldn't imagine a better stage to manage then Sailors Cove.
Sailors Cove has always been a very well known and respected stage within Second Life's music community and when Jojamela's plans to find a new manager became public, I immediately volunteered. The idea of Sailors stage suffering and/or eventually disappearing like so many wonderful stages do in SL was a sad one. I am honored to step up and take over, my goal is to do everything I can to maintain Sailor Cove's position as one of the finest stages in SL.
I look forward to returning the venue into a busy place and I am well under way, our first show is Monday August 11th, 12pm slt. Very little will change at Sailors Cove, there simply is no need. A few of the regular musicians will return but of course there will be new faces and talent as well. I suspect that within a few weeks, the stage will be alive and kicking.
This fall I am planning a few bigger events, including Art in Park, a fall festival with two of the most talented and popular artists in Second Life and of course, live music.
Please follow the calendar and notices for updates on all the Sailors Cove Theater events.

Sailors Cove Theater New Manager
I'm very pleased to announce that Sesi Ackland has agreed to assume the role of Sailors Cove Theater Manager. Many of you know that I've had some RL issues that have prevented me from being inworld much these days, especially the month of July where I took a holiday.
RL continues to interfere in my SL endeavors and Sesi has volunteered to step up to the podium and take over management. Sesi will be the contact person for scheduling musicians and events at the Theater property.
The theater is changing to a tips only venue, so your continued wonderful support of Live Music in SL is very much appreciated. Be sure and check the calendar for upcoming shows and come enjoy the best live music that SL has to offer.

Jamm for Genes at SC theater was a great success
Jamm for Genes went off as planned on Friday Aug 1 with few changes in the lineup of live artists for the 24 hours as planned and ended up stretching to 26 hours in total with a grand total amount of $612,482Lindens raised. Jamm for Genes SL 2008 is now officially over however if you would like to donate to Jamm for Genes which is still going on in the real world as of this posting you can go to the Jeans for Genes website
A huge thank you and group hug to all the artists, volunteers and our sponsors Music Academy Online, Sleepy Engineers, and of Course.. Sailors Cove Theater. And a special thank you to the Sailors Cove community who helped to make this happen. I could not upload a pic here for some reason... Ill try again later.

Settlement Announcement and Public Statement
July 14, 2008: Sailor’s Cove, Second Life.
Patrick Leavitt (Leavitt), Izabella Bentham (Bentham), and Tasha Kostolany (Kostolany) are pleased to announce that they have amicably settled all matters and disputes concerning the Second Life regions known as and making up Sailor’s Cove. Leavitt, Bentham, and Kostolany each regret the recent discord between them, the public displays that transpired, and the effect this may have caused to the residents of Sailor’s Cove.
Despite any previous statements, publications or references of any kind by any of the parties, any inferences, allegations or other suggestions that any of the parties engaged in any misconduct whatsoever with respect to the proper care and disposition of Sailor’s Cove funds, or conducted themselves in such a way as to imply, infer, suggest or otherwise allege that Leavitt, Bentham or Kostolany engaged in any wrongdoing with respect to the management of Sailor’s Cove, let it be known that all parties retract, withdraw and otherwise disclaim any and all such statements. Further, all of the parties recognize that any disparaging remarks that may have been made were solely borne of the frustrations of the moment and apologize to each other for any suggestion that may have cast doubt on the other’s integrity. Leavitt, Bentham and Kostolany also sincerely apologize to all of the good residents and users of Sailor’s Cove for any imposition this now settled controversy may have caused.
Bentham and Kostolany have spent thousands of hours over the past year and half to make Sailor’s Cove the best sailing region in Second Life. In recognition of their hard work, Leavitt has compensated Bentham and Kostolany for their contributions to Sailor’s Cove, and Bentham and Kostolany have decided to pursue other opportunities within Second Life. Effective immediately, Bentham and Kostolany are no longer associated with Sailor’s Cove Management, and Leavitt wishes them well in their future endeavors.

The Big Move
To all the residents of Sailors Cove Sims. So much is happening so fast these days. I felt compelled to point out that during the move the map will take a day before it finds us. The following is a message from Maggie Linden about it. "This move will likely occur in the late evening Pacific time; the map will take a day or so to update to the new grid location for the regions, so please let your residents know that they may wish to make landmarks to access the regions during the 1 day map inaccessibility. (Landmarks , "Home" locations, and land accessible through 'My Land' will all still work fine.)" ~ Maggie Linden
So, hold on for the ride!

Important update on SL Blog
Important update from the SL Blog site regarding updates to the servers affecting water voids (openspace regions) hopefully this will fix some major issues with sailing lately:
After a few unsuccessful attempts to deploy server version 1.21, we’ve decided to split this into two separate deploys. First, we will deploy a patched version of Server version 1.20. This will include security and performance fixes, including the much-desired reduction memory usage by the physics engine in openspace regions. The plan for this deploy is:
- Thursday 04/17, starting very soon : deploy the 1.20 patches to about 100 regions. Assuming all is well, deploy the 1.20 patches to about 1500 regions.
- Friday morning 04/18, 5-9AM: deploy 1.20 patches to half of Second Life
- Saturday morning 04/18, 5-9AM: deploy 1.20 patches to the rest of Second Life

Meeting at FIYC with Patrick Leavitt
Patrick Leavitt: HI everyone, I want to thank you all for coming.
Patrick Leavitt: you may notice that I like it simple and hate the big crowd feel
Patrick Leavitt: I want to answer any of your questions and jsut chat as we go
Patrick Leavitt: I'm very excited at the job Epi has done getting things going
Arianna Barbarossa is Online
Delinda Dyrssen: Hoooo! Epi
BeeJee Boucher: YAY! (yay!)
Jane Fossett: smile
Patrick Leavitt: and we have so many of you helping out and race directing
BeeJee Boucher: thats 10 linden epi
Epicurus Emmons: :))
Patrick Leavitt: I'm so excited that the place just feels like home too
Patrick Leavitt: and that is from all of us making that happen
Patrick Leavitt: Any specifics I need to cover first
BeeJee Boucher: 3 things i thjink
Epicurus Emmons: ehhhhm le tme thing
BeeJee Boucher: sailing, airport and connecting
Patrick Leavitt: The Big 3
Delinda Dyrssen: I was going to say something but go ahead Beeje
Jane Fossett: #4: Beej's bad spelling
Patrick Leavitt: Hi Hans
Epicurus Emmons: hi hans
You decline Milano Vera: Comune italiano di , Italia 4 Milano (32, 36, 651) from A group member named Jonnie Bamaisin.
BeeJee Boucher: no i just droped 3 things, youi just say your thoughtsd
Hans Zinnemann: heya all
Jane Fossett: HZ!
Patrick Leavitt: Lets start with the airport
Patrick Leavitt: it is just a thought I had since i like seaplanes
Patrick Leavitt: but it really is only a thought
BeeJee Boucher: i like the idea
Patrick Leavitt: nothing around residences and nothing any time soon
BeeJee Boucher: i have 2 seaplanes
Epicurus Emmons: ty for that info beejee
Hans Zinnemann: I fancy an airport
Patrick Leavitt: Beej is the seaplane coast guard
Delinda Dyrssen: can you give one to me Bejee I dont have one
Delinda Dyrssen: lol
Liv Leigh: does it fit into the theme of the area.. i mean waterplanes can be moored like boats
BeeJee Boucher: i think it good be a addition to sailing as long as it doesn interferve with sailing
Patrick Leavitt: THe thing with that is room around the estate and if we really want to commit that kind of resource to it
Patrick Leavitt: Exactly
Delinda Dyrssen: OK I havea techincal question
Patrick Leavitt: the problem too is that they are script heavy
Patrick Leavitt: and that would definalty hurt sailing
Patrick Leavitt: so its a low priorty and just a fun thought
Lisp Hax: /that was my question... impact on lag
Delinda Dyrssen: since its Sailing first.... whenm you fly say abovea certian altitude..dows it still cause lag on the surface?
BeauZeau Zhao: any word on the price of void sims dropping?
Patrick Leavitt: Yes
BeeJee Boucher: but justthinkin outloud
Lisp Hax: any script is going to affect the load on the sim
BeeJee Boucher: a one of race of some sort copuld be possible
Patrick Leavitt: sure, the scripts are all ontop of the parcel its over
BeeJee Boucher: if well organized
Patrick Leavitt: anyway
Patrick Leavitt: on to the second big one
Patrick Leavitt: COnnecting
Delinda Dyrssen: well.. I think if t here were a low amount of people using planes it wouldnt be a problem.. but if it were a public airport... we may get to many flyers
Lisp Hax: /cool the NIMBY argument already.
Lisp Hax: :)
Patrick Leavitt: I have to admit that I have not talked with anyone outside of Sailors Cove about the connecting since the blow up
Patrick Leavitt: I think everyone knows that i have always been interested in that
Contra Koba is Online
Patrick Leavitt: We just have some more things to discuss
BeeJee Boucher: im wondering what the big probloem is
Fearless Freenote: Hear hear
Patrick Leavitt: and we will
BeeJee Boucher: its just one sim
BeauZeau Zhao: hey fearless...
Patrick Leavitt: yes, it seems very simple
Fearless Freenote: yo BZ
Glida Pilote: I'm sure MTW is in favour
Patrick Leavitt: ok one thing for example
BeeJee Boucher: what politics are there that makes it seem so difiiclult
Yuu Nakamichi: phone, grtta
danielle Gardiner: that would be wonderful to connect
Surfwidow Beaumont: like the channel between Nantucket and Santa Cruz
Surfwidow Beaumont: :)
Mothgirl Dibou is Offline
Surfwidow Beaumont: doesnt have to be anything special
Liv Leigh: yes surf, and they stay 2 distinct areas
Fearless Freenote: I'll buy that void sim and put up a toll station
Liv Leigh: but people can sail around
Liv Leigh: if they want
Patrick Leavitt: is that we have a unique identity, I just wnat to make sure we keep that without being lost in the all encompassing USS banner
Delinda Dyrssen: I would pay a toll
Surfwidow Beaumont: maybe 2 void sims
Delinda Dyrssen: if it was reasonable
Surfwidow Beaumont: in a row to make it a clearly defined 'new territory boundary' :)
BeauZeau Zhao: you have to put fearless on the show
Patrick Leavitt: and to be honest MTW is very accomidating and interested in our relationship
Surfwidow Beaumont: 'new terriatory'
Liv Leigh: patrick.. in RL territories border to others
Surfwidow Beaumont: sp groan
Patrick Leavitt: I jsut want to be sure we are set here at home first
Liv Leigh: and they maintain it=dentity
BeeJee Boucher: im not afraid of our image as a sim
Surfwidow Beaumont: yeah
Liv Leigh: all you need to do is negotiate, make the connection work
Jane Fossett: with that introduction... Can you tell us the status of management negotiations with the SC partners?
Patrick Leavitt: Sure
Liv Leigh: you can have your own policies besides
BeeJee Boucher: but im a cruiser, i like lonmg distances to sail
Wendy Curtiss is Online
Fearless Freenote: dittto
Patrick Leavitt: I had go to a RL lawyer so be sure that it is handled fairly
Delinda Dyrssen: dito distto
Delinda Dyrssen: ditto
Patrick Leavitt: alot of the delay was my lawyer catching up
Patrick Leavitt: they should have received a letter this week
Patrick Leavitt: and the negotiations go on
Patrick Leavitt: just to be clear
Patrick Leavitt: Those negotiations are for their settlement to send them on their way
Patrick Leavitt: I look around and sail around and see their handy work
Fearless Freenote: Are you planning on any more void sims?
Patrick Leavitt: They will be compensated fairly
Patrick Leavitt: Fearless yes we do have plans for more voids
Liv Leigh: without TD i hope ;)
Patrick Leavitt: I may have missed some other questions
Liv Leigh: i have one
Liv Leigh: a practical.
Liv Leigh: that is closely connected to fizz cup
Patrick Leavitt: Liz what is TD?
Liv Leigh: the functioning of race courses and their marks
Liv Leigh: time dilatation
Patrick Leavitt: oh ty
Wendy Curtiss is Offline
Liv Leigh: beyond your powers now
Hans Zinnemann: TD = Time Dilation
Liv Leigh: i have noticed..
BeeJee Boucher: oooh nerdy talk
Liv Leigh: epi has replaced the marks
Liv Leigh: all
Liv Leigh: and they rezz late now
Fearless Freenote: What's that in eeengleesh
Patrick Leavitt: The use of scripts and prims are a constant issue
Epicurus Emmons: I already linked them to transparants Liv
Reslez Steeplechase is Online
Liv Leigh: ok
Patrick Leavitt: the darned Havok 4 is just a bear too
Liv Leigh: greats
BeeJee Boucher: i read a cool solition from MTW on the forum for that
Alain Gloster: Mark 10 is still rezzing late
Patrick Leavitt: We did learn one thing yesterday
Liv Leigh: yes td.. (sailing through mud)
Liv Leigh: is an LL issue
Jane Fossett: Epi??? I sent you a note about fixing the marks?
Liv Leigh: not an SC one
Surfwidow Beaumont: i think the sky markers discs used in the ACA wre a very good idea
Patrick Leavitt: that some of the new sims were located in Texas while the rest of the older ones are in San Francisco
Patrick Leavitt: We are requesting all of them to be in one location
Jane Fossett: np Patrick...
Surfwidow Beaumont: were*
Jane Fossett: no... this is a mark issue
Liv Leigh: well.. i just hope the new marks are better visible. i only found them beack because i knew all courses
Jane Fossett: Are they fixed correctly?
Penny's AO: Couldn't find animation *Luth* Rockabilly 04 Mens
BeeJee Boucher: u suggest that will be check asap
Penny's AO: Couldn't find animation *Luth* Rockabilly 08 Mens
Liv Leigh: i was sailing blind
Alain Gloster: not yet..we were racing on them an hour ago
Liv Leigh: they rezzed at 20 m on a 15m/s boat
Yuu Nakamichi: do you think this will improve sim corssing, PL?
Patrick Leavitt: Hans how did the races go today?
Jane Fossett: PL? Will you fix the marks? it takes 6 prim, 5 minutes.
Alain Gloster: still pretty laggy with the mud effect
Epicurus Emmons: Yes Jane I went for the MTW solution for now and rezzed linked transparant prims under the bouys. terraforming a small reef under them might also happen in time
Hans Zinnemann: The 3 racers really enjoyed them but they said there was some bad conditions
Jane Fossett: k.
Jane Fossett: Fizz cup is next week.
Liv Leigh: yes but if i take svar s blackett strait solution
Patrick Leavitt: I'm sorry Jane We will do whatever needs to be done to get right
Alain Gloster: a couple of biuys seem a little better but are still rezzing right when I was next to them
Liv Leigh: the mark doesn t rezz
Liv Leigh: i steer towards the underwater hill
Jane Fossett: terraform under them
Jane Fossett: you will see them on the mini map
Patrick Leavitt: THis is probably a good time make another announcement
Epicurus Emmons: ok i will talk to our terra formers this weekend
StacyAnne Homewood is Offline
Patrick Leavitt: SOme of the problems will be covered under the Racing and Nautical arm of our manangement structure
Patrick Leavitt: What I mean by that is
Liv Leigh: i will be practicing here.. and on other locations.. early to avoid td issues. i can keep you updated
Lario Fontaine: if you deed them to group, the will appear as pink dots in the mini map

Jane Fossett: AC's been racing pretty intensively RL
Surfwidow Beaumont: cup racing is too dependent on connection speeds and sim crossings :)
Delinda Dyrssen: Patrick can I ask one quetion about Epis new Status as Commodore?
BeauZeau Zhao: got struck by kightening
BeauZeau Zhao: froin his sails
Hans Zinnemann: yeah that's why I can't make the Fizz cup. Saturdays are difficult because RL sailing happens then

Surfwidow Beaumont: if it was one giant SIm with a course within it it would be great :)
Jane Fossett: Delinda?
Patrick Leavitt: otherwise I guess were through for now, thanks for coming everyone
Hans Zinnemann: is difficult to sail in SL when racing in RL because boat keeps tacking and can be a real pain!
BeauZeau Zhao: bye all
Epicurus Emmons: Go ahead delinda
Jane Fossett: Delinda is asking a Q
Delinda Dyrssen: isnt it normal for a commodore of a yacht club to be one of the owners of the group?
Hans Zinnemann: Thanks Pat
Surfwidow Beaumont: i often think people that would otherwise be great participants lose interest because of these issues
Patrick Leavitt: Good question Del
BeeJee Boucher: yaya
BeeJee Boucher: YAY! (yay!)
Surfwidow Beaumont: thats why void sims are so important
Patrick Leavitt: Tell you what, Epi and I will look at that. but I'm a little nervous at the moment of to many owners in a group
Surfwidow Beaumont: ;)x
Surfwidow Beaumont: :)x
Surfwidow Beaumont: :0)
Patrick Leavitt: but that is a good question
Delinda Dyrssen: ok ty
Epicurus Emmons: I iwll behave Pat :) as co-owner but for me its not that important as long as i can make notices
Delinda Dyrssen: Bejee I cant dance right now.. Im going to go for a sail with Dana.. but I will later
Delinda Dyrssen: thank you for offering though
Patrick Leavitt: Lets look at it some more. One of the issues is that theatre is using that group too

You: lol
danielle Gardiner: lots of sharks
danielle Gardiner: I have to say
Surfwidow Beaumont: maybe a linden concierge chap could come and fix that
Surfwidow Beaumont: just seems a small thing that could improve the clubs potential
Patrick Leavitt: Is that linden monitor still set up in Fishers Island?
Epicurus Emmons: Its a estate management thing
Patrick Leavitt: IT is the weirdest thing
Yuu Nakamichi: are they happy to put all SC sims into either SF or Dallas then PL?
Jane Fossett: For COM: When you met with the community a few weeks ago, you said that you had reached agreement to sell you interest in Sailors Cove to Tasha and Iza, but you didnt trust them to follow through with the deal. Can you assure us you will still be the owner of SC in thethe future?
Surfwidow Beaumont: A linden could probably say what is slowing down that rezzing
Lila Sideways is Online
Patrick Leavitt: Yes Yuu, that is not a problem
Penny's AO: Couldn't find animation *Luth* Rockabilly 04 Mens
Yuu Nakamichi: might help with regio crossings. the rez time might be more general issues, SW
Patrick Leavitt: I was giving a chronological discription of the events
Yuu Nakamichi: they say they have some serious issue with the central database
Yuu Nakamichi: cluster, which they wnat to eliminate altogether anyway
Pat Duell is Offline
Delinda Dyrssen: Patrick tell them to move it ALL to Dallas
Patrick Leavitt: The question of who owns Sc has never been an issue Jane
Yuu Nakamichi: ;p
Surfwidow Beaumont: its local to this clubs doorstep so quit important i think
Jane Fossett: I quoted you correctly.
Surfwidow Beaumont: quite*
Patrick Leavitt: I own Sailors Cove.
Patrick Leavitt: LInden Labs agree
BeeJee Boucher: ok
BeeJee Boucher: what do i own?
Patrick Leavitt: The rest is the people who have purchased here

Jane Fossett: I'm clarifying the issue. You are not selling your share and will remain sole owner?
Patrick Leavitt: you own your land Beejee and everyone else as well. I am committed to that

BeeJee Boucher: ok thanks
Delinda Dyrssen: yes!hug neko
Patrick Leavitt: Correct Jane

Space Invasion?
Fanci and I were out cruising around and found this strange object on Sailors cove right behind the park. Come to find out it's a performance test put out by LL to check sim performance.
Last night during Patrick LaSalle's concert Sailors Cove went down for a long time. Patrick Leavitt called LL and they said that the server was having hard disk problems. I guess they set this out to monitor. This is what the profile of the object owner said:
This account is used by Linden Lab to perform timing and reliability tests on the main grid for various actions such as teleporting and wearing attachments. It is an automated system that will not respond to chat or IM. Statistics collected are used to monitor and improve system performance.
It's kinda cool when you think about it... nice to know that sim performance is being monitored by the LL gods :)

New Club House
What a celebration. The new Fishers Island Clubhouse grand opening party last night was a wonderful success. We packed the sim with residents and guests and the compliments flew. Drwydyn Tyne had created the most realistic and beautiful home for the new Fishers Island Yacht Club. As a special treat Heath Elvehjem performed a few tunes for us on his piano, Patrick Leavitt toasted Drw and the community and officially opened the building to the public.
The building has many built in features. There is a handbook listing the features, how to use them and credits in the entrance foyer. It is in the magazine rack just to the right as you enter the doorway. Be sure to pick one up when you visit.

Construction complete
For the past few weeks construction on the FIYC clubhouse has been in progress. Few people have received sneak peeks at it and late late last night it was placed on the ground at it's new location on Anchor Cove (right across from the old clubhouse)
Built and furnished by Drwwyndn Tyne, it is a delight to the eyes, realistic to the extreme and has some fantastic features that are sure to please.

Havok4 raising havok with sailing
Races are being canceled all over the place because of a serious bug that has come to be due to the Havok4 server upgrades. The sailing community is asking that everyone vote for this JIRA issue to have Linden Labs fix it as soon as possible. To vote you only need to login to the JIRA website using your SL name and password.
You can also read more about he issue that is causing boats to come to a dead stop on the SLSF Forum.
This is an urgent issue and we're asking that everyone vote to get this fixed as soon as possible.

SCS Blog Evolves and We Need You!
I am in the process of adding new content to the blog that I hope you find useful and informative. This blog is very new and will evolve over time for sure. We will be adding links to residents and merchants blogs and websites, listings of land for sale, a link to display race winners and plenty more. If you want us to link to you please do let me know.
On the sidebar you will now see a link to our new Flickr photo stream which you can also access here. When you see the photographs all in one place it is a reminder of how incredibly wonderful it is to live and play in the Sailors Cove Sims. So please join the open access group on Flickr and upload pictures of your home, your friends, your boat or whatever you like! Please do keep it pg though. ;)
The Sailors Cove Sims community is so big and there is so much going on all the time it is hard to keep up, no? I know i feel that way. We have added a calendar to the right that will help you know what is coming up so check back often. If you have an event you would like to include on the calendar please let me know and we will do our best to inform the community via this blog.
If anyone is interested in adding to the Sailors Cove Sims blog please let me know. We could definitely use some volunteers. If you have never blogged before but are interested in learning how this may be the perfect low stress way to explore the wonderful world of blogging. Trust me if i can do this so can you and I am happy to help you get started. If you are an experienced blogger -- what are you waiting for? Let's talk please?! Of course if you are not a writer but have an idea about something you would like to see here just send me a note and I will do my best to make it happen.
Rule number one of blogging (according to me and me alone) is all blog posts should have a picture. So here for your viewing pleasure is a photograph from the very talented Patadx Pessoa.
Doesn't that photo just make you want to head out and raise your sails? I know that is what I am going to do right now. Cheers y'all!

New Music Video shot in Sailors Cove
Resident, Delinda Dryssen pointed me to this cool video that OhMy Kidd has created while sailing with Delinda aboard her yacht.
Theater Back open for business
After a week off, and still under construction, the Sailors Cove Theater opened back up for three hours of Live Music concerts. The evening started off at 7pm with the musical comedian Vaughan Michalak, followed by Truelie Telling at 8pm and Wendy Curtiss with Lonnie Rockett at 9pm. It was really great to see so many of our Sailors Cove residents there and i hope everyone had a good time.

spring....rebirth...new beginnings..
in the part of the world where i live it is spring. the snowdrops are poking out from under the mulch and the sun finally feels warm.
spring is the season of rebirth and the members of the sailors cove sims are in the process of rebuilding and strengthening our community. the future looks bright as we come together and build new friendships.
Jojamela has asked me to be the administrator for this new Sailors Cove Sims blog and I am pleased to take on the task. However, I want this to be the community's blog. We will have events and community news posted here for sure. What do you want to see in the blog? Do you have a blog or webpage you would like us to link to here? Please let me know either by commenting or finding me inworld. I live on Fishers Island so come by, im or email me.
Don't be shy! This is your community and your blog. Dive in.
One more thing. The change in the season can only mean one thing -- that is right -- its the start of the sailing season! Get out on the water and enjoy.
